Drive converters type AS 590 P

The drive converters used for feeding DC motors of the construction series 590 are designed in a way that they can be built into a standard control cabinet together with the according control devices. The drive converters are designed for connection to a three phase supply line in a voltage range of 110 V AC to 500 V AC. The control and regulating tasks of the series 590 is carried our by a 16 bit micro processor with the following technical features:

a) Complex control algorithms which are not achievable by simple analogue techniques
b) Software configurable control circuits build around standard software blocks
c) Serial link communication with other drives or a host computer via serial interface for realization of the most modern advanced process systems

The controller are available as 1 quadrant as well as 4 quadrant models. A 1 quadrant controller consists of a fully-controlled three phase thyristor bridge (B6C) with full transient and overload protection as well as the associated electronic control circuitry. This way, accurate speed and/or torque control in one selected direction of rotation is provided. A 4 quadrant controller consists of two fully-controlled three phase thyristor bridges (B6C) and a field bridge with modern electronics for speed and torque control for driving and/or braking in both rotational directions.

All drive converters are fitted with an integrated field regulator (full-wave semi-controlled single phase bridge with transient and overload protection). It provides either a fixed voltage or fixed current source. If the operation field current mode was selected, additional field weakening is possible.

The control circuit is totally isolated from the power circuit thus simplifying the intercom-nection of controllers within a system and improving operator safety. The coding circuitry adjusts automatically to accept supply frequencies between 40-70 Hz and possesses high immunity to supply-borne interferences. The armaturer controllers are phase rotation insensitive.

All units are designed for simple and economical panel mounting using keyhole slots. Plug-in control connectors simplify the fitting and removal of the unit to the panel.

An installed, two-line alpha-numeric LCD display (MMI display) shows current converter-relevant data. The LCD display also is an important tool for diagnosis, as it has access to all alarms, inputs and outputs as well as the important software blocks of the regulator. The LED displays underneath the front cover show the drive status at any time and provide information about the condition of the most important inputs and outputs.
